A Torres Unique Special design. The purpose of two rectifier tubes is to handle more current and use more filter capacitance. Two 5Y3 tubes act sort of like a single 5AR4, except that they sag a whole lot more, and drop more voltage for more compression and higher preamp gain. Best for small to medium amps 20 to 50 watts Class AB or 10 to 30 watts Class A. 2 x 6L6, EL34, 7027, KT66 or 4 x 6V6, EL84 - a great trick to get a higher powered amp to really sag a lot. |
